SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS

Alfal-ul-Alami (AuA) as a profit-based company contracted by Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in partnership with national international companies, is dedicated to establishing a cement factory that produces high-quality cement products in Afghanistan. We at AUA are seeking a skilled and experienced international expertise as Operations Coordinator to join our team and lead our operation, production and field office functions.

The Cement Factory Operation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations exploration study, develop operation strategy for the cement company and carried oversight of the cement manufacturing facility. This role involves managing various aspects of the production process to ensure efficiency, productivity, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Operation Coordinator works closely with different departments including HR, external companies and as well as the teams within the factory to streamline operations and achieve production targets.

 

KEY RESULTS EXPECTED

  1. Operational and Strategy planning: Develop and implement production plans to meet the factory's output targets while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime.
  2. Develop AuA Operation Department structure, support with recruitment, develop JDs and develop KPI for unit and individual team members
  3. Develop SOP for operation function of the company and provide training to related staff.
  4. Provide capacity building supports to the team to build their expertise in operation management.
  5. Operational Coordination: Coordinate with different departments, such as production, maintenance, quality control, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations and timely execution of production schedules.
  6. Monitoring progress of exploration study and work with the field team to establish an effective monitoring mechanism of the exploration study or any other research conducted for this purpose.
  7. Develop Process Monitoring Mechanism and oversight thereof: develop system and carry out monitoring of key production parameters, equipment performance, and process controls to identify deviations and take corrective actions to maintain product quality and meet production targets.
  8. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal policies by conducting regular safety inspections, promoting a safety culture, and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  10. Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and raw materials, to optimize production efficiency and minimize waste.
  11. Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production staff on operational procedures, safety protocols, and best practices to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  12. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production activities, equipment performance, and quality control metrics. Maintain accurate production records and documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
  13. Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans to address potential hazards, accidents, or equipment failures, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and employee safety.
  14. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, engineering teams, and maintenance personnel, to align operational objectives, resolve issues, and achieve overall business goals.
  15. Collaborate with department managers to address Operation-related issues and provide guidance on operational plan, policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in cement manufacturing operations or a similar heavy industry (e.g., mining, steel, chemicals)
  • Strong knowledge of cement production processes, equipment, and quality control standards
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements in the manufacturing industry
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to address operational challenges and optimize production efficiency.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce, promoting a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in using computerized systems and software for production planning, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Advert and practical experience in developing strategies, SOPs, operational plan, Training material related to cement and general company operational management
  • Education:  Bachelor or preferrable master’s in engineering or a related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering)
  • Work Experience: At least five years of related professional experience; preferably with business companies, and profit/non-profit or social service environment.
  • Languages Skills: Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Must be able to fluently speak and write reports in English.
  • Technical Proficiency: As an Operation Coordinator in a cement factory, the incumbent need to be familiar with various software applications to support the responsibilities. That could include:
  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES): used to control the production process by providing real-time data on equipment status, production rates, quality metrics, and resource allocation.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System: to develop production planning, inventory management, procurement, finance, and human resources.
  • GIS to store, visualize, analyze, and interpret geographic data
  • Any software for Quality Management system to establish and maintain quality control processes, track product quality data, manage non-conformances.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting and presentation Tools: Software tools like Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Ethics and Integrity: High ethical standards, integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Reporting to General Director, this position has working relationship with operation coordinator, communication and public relationship manager, finance coordinator, filed office manager, advisor and all staff
