
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed a contract with Alfala Ul Alami (AUA) , Awfi Bahram, and Al-Maham International Group from Qatar for the construction of a new cement factory in Jabal al-Saraj district, Parwan province, worth $220 million.
The contract signing took place in the presence of Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, and Saifullah Sabir, Executive Director (AUA), along with representatives from Awfi Bahram and Al-Maham International Group.
Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, the acting head of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, stated during the contract signing ceremony, "With the establishment and completion of this project, more than one million tons of cement will be produced annually, meeting internationally accepted standards." He added that this project will provide direct employment opportunities for five thousand individuals and indirect job opportunities for thousands of others in the country.
During the ceremony Mr. Saifullah Sabir as the contract holder for the implementation and construction of the factory, stated that AUA and its shareholders are committed to producing cement in accordance with the global standards. He emphasized that for the first time in Afghanistan's history, cement production of the highest quality with advanced machinery will be introduced to domestic markets.
He further highlighted that the construction of this factory will reduce cement imports from neighboring countries and the region, create favorable conditions for employment and job opportunities for Afghans, and take significant steps towards utilizing internal cement production capacity.
AUA in collaboration with Awfi Bahram and Al-Maham International Group from Qatar, has entered into a 30-year contract with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
It is worth mentioning that this factory will be separate from the Jabal al-Saraj Cement Factory, which is under the responsibility of the National Development Corporation
