Job Summary
AUA is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Design Engineer. The Structural Design Engineer will provide structural design, analysis, and technical evaluation of building systems to ensure the strength, stability, safety, and full compliance of projects with national and international building standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform structural design for various building elements including columns, beams, slabs, foundations, shear walls, Truss and steel structures.
- Grant full Access with design of Administration, industrial and residential buildings.
- Calculate dead loads, live loads, wind loads, and seismic loads, and conduct detailed structural analysis.
- Use structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, and Structure for modeling and analysis.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant building codes and standards (ACI, AISC).
- Prepare and review structural drawings and construction details.
- Develop technical reports, material specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Work closely with architectural, electrical, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate structural designs.
- Participate in design meetings and provide technical recommendations at various project stages.
- Maintain effective communication with consultants, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical advice to site teams during construction phases.
- Review shop drawings and respond to technical queries (RFIs) from contractors.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with approved designs
- Keep professional knowledge up to date through trainings, workshops, and technical resources.
Job Requirements
EDUCATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (master’s degree preferred).
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in structural design for residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
SKILLS and ABILIITES:
- Proficiency in design software (ETABS, SAFE, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro)
- Familiarity with international standards (ACI, AISC Codes)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Must be able to write reports in English. Proficiency in Dari or Pashtu is required.
