Job Summary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in collecting, receiving, identifying, recording, transporting, and storing samples of raw materials, clinker, gypsum, cement, and other relevant materials.
- Prepare samples through drying, crushing, grinding, and homogenizing in accordance with approved laboratory procedures.
- Ensure proper labeling and identification of all samples.
- Prevent contamination, mixing, or loss of samples during handling and testing.
- Perform routine and basic chemical tests under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.
Assist in determining the major chemical components and oxides of raw materials and cement, including:
- SiO₂
- Al₂O₃
- Fe₂O₃
- CaO
- MgO
- SO₃
- Loss on Ignition (LOI)
- Always follow approved test methods and laboratory procedures.
- Assist in chemical testing of raw materials, clinker, gypsum, and cement.
- Prepare laboratory solutions, reagents, and other materials required for testing.
- Properly operated laboratory equipment such as analytical balances, ovens, furnaces, grinding equipment, and other available laboratory instruments.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and tracking of all samples.
- Assist in reviewing contractor reports and field data.
- Follow safety procedures and quality control requirements at site and laboratory.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a chemical laboratory, preferably in a cement, construction materials, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of chemical testing methods and laboratory procedures.
- Knowledge of the major chemical components and oxides of raw materials, clinker, gypsum, and cement.
- Ability to properly handle, prepare, label, and store laboratory samples.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and quality control requirements.
- Good knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word and MS Excel.
- Ability to work with databases and maintain accurate laboratory records and data.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy in testing, recording, and reporting results.
- Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a team.
